Strong Foundations: Men for Equality and WILL Hold First Coordination Meeting for UNICEF-Supported GTA Project

Men for Equality and Women in Liberation and Leadership (WILL), with support from UNICEF, have successfully convened the first coordination meeting for the newly launched Gender Transformative Approach (GTA) project. This milestone session was designed to align strategies, clarify roles, and strengthen the collaborative framework necessary for effective and sustainable implementation.

Key Focus Areas for Effective Implementation

During the meeting, participants discussed and reinforced critical areas to guide the project’s success:

  • Robust male engagement mechanisms – encouraging men and boys to actively participate in promoting positive masculinity and ending harmful practices.
  • Safeguarding and child protection as non-negotiables – ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children remain central to all interventions.
  • Unified communication and advocacy – harmonizing messaging across partners for stronger impact and public awareness.
  • Community ownership as key to sustainability – empowering local leaders and stakeholders to take charge of initiatives for lasting change.

A Roadmap for Action

The meeting concluded with a clear roadmap for field activities, outreach planning, and monitoring mechanisms. This structured plan will guide GTA implementation across regions, ensuring consistency, accountability, and measurable impact.

Collaborative Spirit for Lasting Change

The coordination meeting highlighted the importance of partnership and shared vision. By aligning strategies and strengthening collaboration, Men for Equality, WILL, and UNICEF are laying the groundwork for a project that will transform gender norms, promote equality, and empower communities across The Gambia.
